BANDWIDTH
SETTINGS Click: Options>Preferences>Connection
In this box, have you ever wondered how to set your Normal Bandwidth and your Maximum
Bandwidth settings? Do you set them the same? Or one higher than your modem connection?
The proper way to set your RealPlayer is to set your Maximum Bandwidth to your largest
allowable setting (if you're on a 56k modem, you'd set it to 56k modem). Your Normal
Bandwidth Setting should be set one level below it (for 56k modem users, it would be set
to 33.6k).
By setting your RealPlayer this way, your player will manage the streaming data so as to
prevent rebuffering, as well as play the clip with greater "integrity" and
"smoothness".
This proper setting of your RealPlayer becomes more critical when playing SMIL
applications that involve opening and closing various channels that are handling streaming
images, audio, video, and text.
